My Family
My wife Alison and I married in 2002 after dating for two years. We originally met while taking swing dance lessons in Raleigh, North Carolina. At the time I was working as the IT Manager in my parent’s business writing software and educating employees on information technology. I also became the unofficial manager of improvements when I was able to go through the business in several areas and eliminate repetative tasks saving the company ten of thousands of dollars every year. I wrote the software using a fantastic tool called Magic (now called UniPaas). It allows me to put together decent business software in little time. Alison, was working with a small software company which later folded due to some pretty dramatic changes in one of their primary accounts. It was a great firm from what I could see though.
Hailey
In 2004 we had our first daughter Hailey. She was born around 7 PM in Cary, North Carolina. Our doctor and nurses were the best. Some of them even stayed over their shift to finish out the delivery. Hailey was born in great health except for some jaundice. We ended up staying in the hospital for four days while that was taken care of. The image shows her on the next morning about 12 hours old.
We had to watch her around the clock because she wanted to pull the goggles off while she was under the light. You can see her here tugging at the sides in the middle of the night. I stood watch most of the night while Alison slept. She needed some rest to say the least.
This was the first child I had ever even held let along changes a diaper, burped, or anything!
Charlotte
In December of 2006 came the birth of our second, and debatable our last, daughter Charlotte. This being a second child the birth lasted all of two pushes and about 4 hours of actual hospital time. She was born with very little jaundice but was absolutly, and to this day is still, TINY. Ten days later I moved to Richmond to start my current job. I drove home on weekends until we sold our house and moved which took only 6 weeks. However that was the longest 6 weeks of our lives, especially Alison’s. Charlotte unfortunatly had caulic and acid reflux so she was not a very happy baby for the first few months.
So far today they are still happy and healthy and worth every bit of suffering to be with them. I would not change ot for the world, being a dad is the greatest thing I could ever do and be a part of. The two pictures are from our trip to Disney this year.

Mike, you have two beautiful little girls!
How do you like Richmond compared to Charlotte, North Carolina? I’ve been to Charlotte a few times before and it’s nice down there. I have lived in Richmond my entire life though.
